IICLC Hosts the Opening Ceremony of Spring Semester 2016 and New Students Orientation

On March 16th, 2016, the International Institute of Chinese Language and Culture (IICLC) held the opening ceremony of spring semester 2016 in the International Conference Hall on the 11th floor of Zhiyuan Building. Leaders and faculties of the institute and around 200 students coming from more than 90 countries attended the ceremony. Director of the administration office, Mr. Jin Yingman, hosted the ceremony.   Dean of IICLC, Mr. Zhang Jian, gave a welcome speech. He warmly welcomed the students from all over the world on behalf of IICLC and gave his sincere greetings to all the students and faculties in the beginning of the new semester. Mr. Zhang Jian briefly introduced the academic strengths of DUFE and the current status of foreign students’ education in China. In his speech, Dean Zhang shared “thinking”, as a key word, with the students and faculties. He stressed that the core of higher education is cultivating the ability of independent thinking and problem-solving skills. The level of thinking has a strong influence to a person’s role in the future development, the speed of development, and the height of achievement. He hoped that every foreign student could take a serious thinking in their study plan in China, make the best of the opportunity studying in DUFE, participant campus activities, and have a deeper understanding of Chinese society, culture and history. Eventually, every student would become an all-round-developed ambassador of cross-culture communication. Za Ya from Chad and An Guo from Brazil provided individual speeches, as student representatives, on studying and living in DUFE, and they both look forward to better fit into the family. Professor Zhang Jianjun gave a speech on behalf of faculties and explained vividly the meaning of learning Chinese. Professor Zhang wished that everyone could study hard and make progress.   After the ceremony, all new students received a freshman enrollment education. Officer Qin Wei from Entry-exit Administration Bureau gave a lecture on laws and regulations of entry and exit procedures and visa renewal. Finally, students and faculties took a group picture at the main gate of the university.
